The Custom and Self Build Expo Scotland: Unlocking the potential of Custom and Self-Build housing is coming to Glasgow on the 20 June 2018.

The partnership of NaCSBA, Wood for Good and the Right to Build Task Force, is hosting The Custom and Self Build Expo, Scotland: Unlocking the potential of Custom and Self-Build. This latest Expo will bring together leading influencers in the Custom Build, Self Build and community-led housing sector in Scotland, sharing the latest news and information on the sector.

The Custom and Self Build Expo, Scotland will share Scotland’s progress with customer-commissioned housing, and the country is developing interesting and innovative approaches in place of the Right to Build legislation and registers, which only operate in England. Consequently, its approach is different, involving a range of pilot schemes and funds to test the models.

Previous Expos have been enthusiastically received, providing an incredibly affordable expert insight into the challenges and best practice of the sector. Most notably, they are an invaluable and cost effective opportunity for local authorities to network and share their experiences of diversifying housing supply.

The Right to Build Task Force’s has a duty to grow Custom, Self Build and community-led housing across the UK, and theCustom and Self Build Expo, Scotland is an opportunity to share its progress.

Previous expos have seen a diverse mix of developers, planners, housing teams, landowners, community groups, financiers and share their knowledge.

The Expos are also helpful for local authorities to establish ways of assessing demand for customer-commissioned houses. Last October, NaCSBA announced that, in England, there are 33,000 people signed up to the registers.
