If you would like to support the work of growing the Custom, Self-build and cohousing sector in the UK, why not link up any self-builders ou there with a request to support research into the industry.

If you’d like to help a working planner with his research into Self-build for his masters, take a look below and see if you can put him in touch with some of your self-build clients who could support his research.

Please note: this not a NaCSBA initiative or survey, but is distributed in the ethos of research and better understanding of the sector.
Thank you, NaCSBA committee

Dear Member,

My name is Charles Ebden and I am Planning Officer at Blaby District Council in Leicestershire. I am currently studying my Masters in Planning at Birmingham City University and am researching the Self-build housing sector for my dissertation.

I’m looking for Self-builders to fill in a short a short survey about their experiences of Self-build housing. With this survey, I aim to gather the insights of people who are currently undertaking, or have in the past undertaken, a Self-build project in the UK, in order to gauge what they believe are the benefits, barriers and facilitators of undertaking a Self-build project.

The survey will take 10-15 minutes to complete, no questions are compulsory, and any personal details that respondees choose to include will only be seen by myself and my supervisor at Birmingham City University, and will be anonymised before reporting. The survey will be closed at the end of March 2018. Undertaking the survey will be taken as consent to participate.

Self-builders can fill in the survey here

The feedback gained from your experiences will give me valuable insights into the self-build market and I tremendously appreciate you taking the time to complete it.

Many thank in advance for your help. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at charles.ebden@mail.bcu.ac.uk

Charles Ebden
